In 45 B.C, Julius Caesar introduced the leap year, adding an extra day to the calendar every fourth year because our solar year was just a smidgen longer than 365 days (365.24219 days, to be exact). Thus, February 29 was born! While this may seem like a minor adjustment, it prevents a gradual misalignment with the natural order of months and seasons.
